Denver Doings: Pearl Street Farmer's Market - Sundays

Although I try to keep this a framing blog, I also have to throw in some other posts that will break things up for my friends and family because not everyone shares the same enthusiasm I have for picture frames.

"Denver Doings" will be a grouping of these posts, whether is be a visit to Santa Fe's Art Walk, a new hiking trail, Bronco/Nugget/Rockies news, or food related posts. The point being, life with more in it is a good thing.

The Pearl Street Market is situated amongst some really fantastic restaurants like the Sushi Den trio, Black Peal, Gaia Bistro, Stellas, really you cant go wrong eating at any of the places on those three or four blocks. The market being situated here sets the tone and Sunday mornings really shine.

This trip was my first one of the season, I was really happy that there were some olds faces there and new ones as well.
One of the freshest new faces was a group called Urban Truck Farm.
Created by a couple Ag students at CU, the idea is to do bed truck gardens if you don't have ample space in your backyard. They had a lot of people stopping by the truck to chat and see the idea up close. Cool guys, cool idea .I'm curious how it ends up working out for them.

Another great new friend to the local food scene was the Steamin' Demon. Thats the name of the new food cart run by the hip folks over at the Watercourse and City O' City. Basically the great vegan food you know and love, street style. If you arent hip to the new food truck explosion in Denver then you better ax' sumbody.

There were many old faces as well, Styria's Bakery, Snow Creek Ranch Beef, Rabbit Shadow Farms Lamb, XING XINGs Oriental farms, the Tamale folks, and then there is this guy --->

The legend himself - Biker Jim. Again if you dont know about the food carts in Denver, ask. When you do ask I promise you, PROMISE you, you will be told of Biker Jim. Recently visited by Anthony Bourdain on a recent taping of No Reservations, Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs are not really hot dogs but some of the finest sausages you will ever try. Some handmade here, some in Alaska, Jim specializes in wild game sausages grilled and wrapped with cream cheese and carmelized onions. This guy has won more Westword Best Of awards off a food cart than many even dream of. And the day after Jim and I were talking food, he signed a lease on a restaurant. Way to go Jim, I'll be giving you my resume soon if you need staff.
