Denver Doings: Pearl Street Farmer's Market - Sundays

Although I try to keep this a framing blog, I also have to throw in some other posts that will break things up for my friends and family because not everyone shares the same enthusiasm I have for picture frames.

"Denver Doings" will be a grouping of these posts, whether is be a visit to Santa Fe's Art Walk, a new hiking trail, Bronco/Nugget/Rockies news, or food related posts. The point being, life with more in it is a good thing.

The Pearl Street Market is situated amongst some really fantastic restaurants like the Sushi Den trio, Black Peal, Gaia Bistro, Stellas, really you cant go wrong eating at any of the places on those three or four blocks. The market being situated here sets the tone and Sunday mornings really shine.

This trip was my first one of the season, I was really happy that there were some olds faces there and new ones as well.
One of the freshest new faces was a group called Urban Truck Farm.
Created by a couple Ag students at CU, the idea is to do bed truck gardens if you don't have ample space in your backyard. They had a lot of people stopping by the truck to chat and see the idea up close. Cool guys, cool idea .I'm curious how it ends up working out for them.

Another great new friend to the local food scene was the Steamin' Demon. Thats the name of the new food cart run by the hip folks over at the Watercourse and City O' City. Basically the great vegan food you know and love, street style. If you arent hip to the new food truck explosion in Denver then you better ax' sumbody.

There were many old faces as well, Styria's Bakery, Snow Creek Ranch Beef, Rabbit Shadow Farms Lamb, XING XINGs Oriental farms, the Tamale folks, and then there is this guy --->

The legend himself - Biker Jim. Again if you dont know about the food carts in Denver, ask. When you do ask I promise you, PROMISE you, you will be told of Biker Jim. Recently visited by Anthony Bourdain on a recent taping of No Reservations, Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs are not really hot dogs but some of the finest sausages you will ever try. Some handmade here, some in Alaska, Jim specializes in wild game sausages grilled and wrapped with cream cheese and carmelized onions. This guy has won more Westword Best Of awards off a food cart than many even dream of. And the day after Jim and I were talking food, he signed a lease on a restaurant. Way to go Jim, I'll be giving you my resume soon if you need staff.

Neu Projects: Mars Hotel Album cover SIGNED by full band

I recently was asked to frame this album for a friend here in Colorado and I couldn't be more excited. This is a great piece and I cant wait to see the final product. As you can see it is a complete signing of the band with Jerry, Mickey, Phil, Bobby,Bill, and Keith. No Donna though, just the way it should be. A really great album cover from the Grateful Dead in the 70's wouldn't be complete without some hidden art-

"When held upside down in front of a mirror, the graphic on the front of the album cover appears to say "Ugly Rumors" which inspired the name of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's band, Ugly Rumours  (From Wikipedia).

"Ugly Rumors" refers to GD tour rumors in the midst of a lengthy hiatus they had from 74-77. Why can't Phish recover from their hiatus the way they did?!?

I'll post pictures of the finished project but for enough already lets get to it...

The
Man

My ship has pulled in...

I'd love to name this one S.S.CraiglistIsTheShit...

I just had to provide a screenshot of this one because who knows how long my craigslist ad will survive as the #1 result for a search of the words "concert showbill". I don't know how it happened but let me tell you, it feels damn good to be number one in something.
Along with handing out my cards to people at local shows, and now this blog, Craigslist.org has gone a long way towards getting my services out there. Thank you Craig.

2 year anniversary of my first post!

Well then, how 2 years can really fly! I want to take the time to thank everyone for supporting me during the last two years on this blog.
To Emily, my beautiful wife, thank you for sitting through that 2 minutes it took to write that post two years ago to the day. My accomplishments have really been a product of your support, and I thank you.
To the readers, you all continue to amaze me with the persistent visiting of this blog. For me, blog reading is an essential part of my morning. With the fall of the newspaper industry and the rise of cloud computing, I feel that this one of the last true vehicles of the "voice of the american people". Thank you for letting my voice be a part of your coffee, shit and shave.
I know I know I haven't really been posting too much (once in the last two years to be exact) and you all have let me know that through all the comments, but man, life has been crazy! I sincerely hope that all of you continue to enjoy this blog and I feel that the steam is starting to build on this thing. Stay tuned and I think you will enjoy.
