Good things to come?

I oped my mailbox to these today:

I think the design is great, and usually the design falls in line with other items like poster, merchandise, signs, wristbands, etc. for that particular event. These are just the camping tickets, so looking forwad to other collectibles, like those cute little damn merit badges from this tour. Looks like another great way to frame ticket stubs along with your poster.

Speaking of which, how do you feel about framing the stub along with the poster? Its has been almost a hot-button topic for a lot of the people I talk to in the poster scene, with the squiggly line drawing down the middle. I will post on this matter in the next week so stay tuned.

Friday night and the feeling's right...

Finished off some frames this week, and they are looking fly! Take a peek, then enjoy your Friday night! I know I will ;)

NBA thoughts...

Congrats to Melo and La La getting murrred up last Saturday in the NYC-
I know how you were feelin', and the wife looks da' bomb.

Among those in attendance at the wedding were Lebron James (who was booed by New Yorkers), A'mare Stoudemire, Chris Paul, the Kardashians, Spike Lee,  Luda, and a slew of other celebrity and power New Yorkers. With all the attention on the Miami Thrice, it seems as though Chris Paul had to take some of the spotlight concerning a possible New York connection. According to the New York Post's Marc Berman, attendee Chris Paul(notes) made a pretty interesting speech at the ceremony-
During Carmelo Anthony's wedding Saturday night at Cipriani's on 42nd Street, Chris Paul, the superstar New Orleans point guard, predicted a future Knicks Dream Team. [...]
According to a person who spoke with wedding attendee Amar'e Stoudemire(notes), Paul made the reference during a speech of a potential union of himself, Stoudemire and Anthony, saying, "We'll form our own Big 3," Paul allegedly said.

So there you go Knicks fan, its possible, but then again you have Donnie Walsh and this story-

The Knicks now can chase superstars who actually want to play in New York: Carmelo Anthony(notes) in 2011 and point guards Chris Paul(notes) or Deron Williams(notes) in 2012.
As reported exclusively in yesterday's Post, the Knicks' insistence on no more than two guaranteed years for Felton at $15.8 million has given them the cap-space flexibility to offer one maximum contract for 2011 and another one for 2012, Knicks president Donnie Walsh told The Post yesterday.

Sounds like a good thing right? Then Donnie drops this, completely ruining all chances of a decent Knick rebuild and subsequently making my stomach hurt from laughing so hard-

A reunion between Isiah Thomas and the New York Knicks is possible, according to Donnie Walsh.
Walsh, the Knicks' president, said Thomas will be on his list of candidates if he is given the go-ahead to hire a general manager.
"With other people, yes, Isiah would be under consideration from me," Walsh said in a telephone interview Saturday. "But that's a situation the owner would have to be involved in."
Walsh said he hasn't hired a general manager for financial reasons. If Knicks owner James Dolan allows it, he said he will eventually do so. [...]
There is little question that Dolan would be willing to consider rehiring Thomas, who served as the club's president and eventually head coach for 4½ years. The two have maintained a close relationship since Thomas was fired by the Knicks in April 2008."

Laughable

And secondly- I will always watch Lebron for his highlights, but can't root for him to win a 'Chip. Which really makes me wonder if the Lakers and Heat are in the Finals next year, who do you root for? Lebron or Kobe?

Neu Projects: Robert Crumb poster

Underground cartoonist R.Crumb developed many characters in the early 60's-70 and had a little comic that left a mark on american pop culture during that time. This one in particular:

The struttin' figure has been popularized by many and you see the strut in many of the Grateful Dead's art.

This poster is pretty old and brittle and was mounted with a photo spray so that it will be permanently mounted, but it will put a preservation into the piece and actually will help the life of the paper. The comic "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" involved lots of stoner innuendo and had a great character named Freewheelin' Franklin. Well, Franklin was a wise man and Crumb had a small poster series called "Freewheelin' Franklin Sez" almost like a public announcement series to inform the public. Well, here you are. Such a great poster.

Neu Projects: Jim Pollock Phish Prints

These posters come to me by way of a Denver collector. These are two great prints done by Jim Pollock in the latter part of 2009. Jim has been doing Phish posters for years and he is also the designer of the La Junta cover and many of the Live Phish series covers:

First is the poster from Festival 8. It is a 3D variance of the original poster, very limited (650), and they came with a pair of glasses, however Patrick just wanted to have a pair of standard glasses mounted in with the frame. Cool idea! looking forward to that!

Secondly we have Jim's print from the New York Run late last year. Another great design, this one has all three tickets that will be mounted in there as well. I really like framing Pollock's posters, they are just such a bad ass memoriam to my days on tour, and seeing each new one he does is really a treat. Thank you Jim!

Our Wedding

We met up with our photographer Kristy Rowe at Vine Street Pub this weekend to go over our final wedding photo packet. She is a real bad ass behind the lens, and I couldn't be have been happier with the results. Check her out at www.moodeous.com.

Neu Projects: WSP Raleigh, NC Showbill

My friends Derek and Lea, got married June 6th, the day after Emily and I. Here is a poster from the Raleigh shows, also Derek's 30th birthday. He wants this one framed with their ticket stubs, authenticating the trip. The poster is done by Craig Howell, and is a great example of his style. Congrats to the Harden couple! I'll be laying color down on the poster this week, stay tuned...

Just sayin'

I really can't get enough of the Lebron James talk. I am a hoops nut and I've been psyched for July 1, 2010 for a long time. And yes, Lebron James is the best player on the planet. My money says he stays in Cleveland, though I hear the Nets' Mikhail Prokhorov, Jay-Z and Brooklyn made a good pitch.
